Brief history of the Nodal Ninja:
Almost all other pano heads on the market today are designed by a small hand full of engineers sitting in a room trying to figure out how best to design and manufacture their product while keeping basic objectives in plain sight. Some of these engineers have little or no actual experience in panoramic photography. Nick Fan, developer of Nodal Ninja, on the other hand has built this pano head based on the needs of the end user. Customers have provided valuable feedback over the years with design suggestions. From the early pre-production models SPH-1, SPH-1i, SPH-2, SPH-2s, SPH-2L which paved the road to the Nodal Ninja 3 (NN3). And with Fanotec's recent incorporation of new computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) facilities we have completely redesigned the rotator calling it the NN3 MKII (second generation). Earlier users of NN3 can easily upgrade their pano head by buying the MKII rotator. Those upgrading from older NN3 will still able to use their existing ring sets.

Nodal Ninja folded The Nodal Ninja 3 series pano head are best suited for those on the go and a popular choice for Real Estate photographers, hobbyists, hikers and travelers. for single row and multi row panoramas. Ideal cameras include point and shoot as well as smaller DSLR's not using battery grips or bulky quick release systems (see NN5). You can mount your camera in both landscape (horizontal) and portrait (vertical) modes.

The "standard" rotator for NN3-MKII uses reversible detent rings which give the sound and/or feel of click stops when rotating the pano head. Available rings offer the following click stops to form 360 degrees = 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 14, 15, 18, 20, & 24. Our new CNC machined advanced rotators which preclude the use of rings are also available - see below.

Note: If your camera has an offset tripod mount (from center of lens) you will need to order the t-30 t-adapter.
T-adapters are sold separately or select for free substitution instead of using enclosed Camera Plate.

Lightweight and compact this pano head is an excellent choice when weight is a concern. This is a popular pano head used by many Real Estate photographers. Also great for hiking or traveling, stows easily inside a protective case or fits nicely in any bag or large pocket. Folded NN3 MKII measures only 7”x2”x2” (178mm x 50mm x 50mm) and weighs 475 grams (1 lb 1oz).
